First of all I would like to say a massive thank you to Rebecca over at www.properpost.co.uk for sending me this box. This box is the perfect mix of two of my favourite vices… Subscription boxes and stationery.
Proper post is a little different from the usual run of the mill stationery subscription box in the way it works, not only is it a surprise stationery box each month, but will also help you remember those all important birthdays which we are all guilty of forgetting occasionally when day-to-day life gets in the way. Each month proper post will e-mail with a reminder of the birthdays you have coming up in the next two months and you can then pick 2 cards from a vast array of their own proper post brand greetings cards and along with these you will also receive a surprise selection of themed stationery items to compliment your chosen cards.
I unboxed this Live on the BoXession Facebook Group, which is now available to view on our YouTube Channel…
This month’s box or envelobox/boxelope (a box in the shape of an envelope that fits perfectly through your letterbox) (no waiting in for the postie or pesky red cards through your letterbox with this sub) contained a collaboration with Lulu Guinness, the British Fashion Designer famed for her bold feminine prints and handbag and accessory collections. A very exciting collaboration for any small business and very exciting for anyone subbing I am sure.
So in the box I received I had two lovely generic greetings cards with the proper post branding on them, these would be the two I chose if I had of purchased the box myself. They were both good quality card and A6 size. One was a simple but bold black and white print saying “HIP HIP HOORAY FOR TODAY” it was a very fun print and the kind of card that anyone of any age or gender would appreciate and came in a craft paper envelope embossed with the proper post logo on the back, these kind of details I really appreciate being a crafter and stationery lover. The second card was another generic birthday card also suitable for any gender or sex, including a bright rainbow print with the words HAPPY BIRTHDAY, the print kind of gives me the feel of a superhero theme, I can’t work out why but it definitely does as you can see on the photos, again this came in an envelope with the proper post logo embossed on the back.
Now I’ll tell you all about the best bits of this collection, the Lulu Guinness surprise items. Oh My Word, these are so fun and bold and feminine, I adore every little bit down to the tiny strip of lip print vinyl stickers.
Firstly I saw the A2 sheet of gift wrap, a glossy fun and super feminine sheet of gift wrap that any modern women would appreciate wrapped around a gift, printed with a simple black line pattern on white glossy paper with a smattering of dainty lip prints. This gift wrap is funky and bold whilst still being understated at the same time.
Staying with this super stylish theme also included are 2 note cards, the first one is a small note card with a large red print of red lips and the words kiss kiss in a simple flowing cursive font. The second card is my favourite, a huge lip shaped card, again stylishly feminine and bold and truly divine, I want to post this card to myself in the co-ordinating Lulu Guinness envelope.
My favourite item from the collection though is the note papers and pencil set, the note papers again feature the bold prints featured in the collection and co-ordinate beautifully with everything else, featuring the same simple black line design with the cherry red lip prints across the bottom and the bold black and white stripe across the top, and what better way to write a wonderful little pick me up note, thank you letter etc to a super stylish friend than with your co-ordinating bold pencil featuring a gold Lulu Guinness logo printed on it on your new note papers, and finishing it off with a few co-ordinating stickers.
I loved every bit of this month’s box and i am really looking forward to seeing future boxes, I not going to price the items individually as I don’t think you can price a collection like this fairly and I would not know where to start, I do think the value for money is exactly right, I loved this box and would be happy to pay the price of the box for it but would not want to pay more, therefore feel the pricing us spot on. The monthly price of this box is £15.99 with Free postage, perfectly priced in my opinion.
