Pink Parcel Review by Jen – May 2018

Thank you to the lovely Laura over at Pink Parcel for sending me the May edit to review. I’ve seen many members over on the BoXession group discussing spoilers and have had to divert my eyes away in order to avoid spoiling the surprise! What can I say; I love a Pink Parcel surprise!

How much will I pay?

There are currently four membership options, all with free delivery:

  • Monthly – recurring payment of £12.99
  • 3 Months – one off payment of £35.97 saving £1 per month
  • 6 Months – one off payment of £64.95 6 months for the price of 5
  • 12 Months – one off payment of £129.90 12 months for the price of 10

When will it arrive?

The beauty of this box is it works around you and your period. You can select when you’d like the box to arrive, ensuring you receive your sanitary products and feel good items at just the right time. The Parcel is also the perfect size to fit through most letterboxes and is discretely packaged.

If you missed my Daughter and I unboxing Pink Parcel and Bettybox, you can watch it back here…

What’s inside?

First and foremost, sanitary products! When joining Pink Parcel you have the option of selecting the type of products you’d like to receive – pads, tampons or a mixture. Not only that, you can also choose which brands to receive along with your favoured fit. I love the way in which this box is packaged, classy and discrete. A small pink cotton bag contains 6 of my chosen daytime pads along with 5 liners. A ribbon drawstring ensures nothing can fall out and in all honesty at a glance nobody would be aware of its contents. A grey box labelled ‘for later’ contains a further 10 daytime pads, you really do receive a good quantity! A smaller grey box, labelled ‘for night’, contains 5 nighttime pads from the very same brand. The sanitary products provided are based on an average 5-day cycle; this number is definitely sufficient for myself.

Talking of sanitary products, how lucky are we ladies that have access to monthly products? Lovely Mother Nature visits and we just reach for our sanitary pads or tampons…but what about those who don’t have these items readily available?? Period poverty exists in all walks of life, yet it shouldn’t. As women we don’t ask for periods, yet still there are women and girls who don’t have sanitary products readily available to them – a basic need. This is where you lovely ladies come in, yes you beautiful! Enclosed within your Pink Parcel you will find a prepaid plastic envelope, simply pop in any unused sanitary products and post at your nearest post box or post office. The fantastic people over at Pink Parcel shall then distribute them to their local charity partners, ensuring those women and girls never need experience period poverty again.

I’m sure I speak for all subscribers when I say my favourite element of this box is the ‘for you’ section. This for me is my little box of pampering goodies during Mother Nature’s timely visit!

Vegan by Dr.Botanicals Coconut Oil Rejuvenating Body Exfoliating Bar 100g – RRP £19.90

This vegan and cruelty free exfoliating bar smells divine! I love the scent of coconut; it smells so refreshing and clean. This bar lathers up really well and can be used not only on the body but also on the face, mainly due to the gentle exfoliating grains. Unlike some products, this bar is gentle on the skin, making it perfect for those with sensitive skin. I’m also impressed by the size of the product; it’s a generous size that would be perfect for all the family.

NAOBAY Orange Juice Hand Cream 35ml – RRP Approx £4.03 (full sized 100ml RRP £11.50)

I love a good hand cream! Many mums will know just how dry hands can become after washing a multitude of breakfast pots in a morning. This Naobay orange juice hand cream is a perfect selection for this months box, it’s citrusy scent is refreshing. A non-greasy formula ensures this product is easily absorbed, whilst the organic ingredients keep your hands beautifully soft.

Anatomicals Sud The Lot Of You – Get Lost Grime Body Cleanser (marvellous mango & papaya) 15ml – RRP Approx 19p (full sized 300ml RRP £3.79)

I’m loving the fruity scents in this months box, including this body cleanser from Anatomicals. I’ve tried this brand previously and found it to be fab, strong scents but not harsh on skin. Foaming up quickly, leaving a subtle scent after showering off…what more could you want?

Optiat Nourishing & Hydrating Face Mask 1g – RRP Approx 60p (full sized 30g RRP £17.95)

Organic, vegan and 100% natural. This nourishing and hydrating facemask is made from marshmallow root, English hemp and activated charcoal to gently cleanse and detoxify skin. The powder within the sachet, once mixed with a little warm water, turns into a paste. Impurities are drawn out, dead skin cells polished away and skin hydrated by the formula. My skin was left feeling beautifully clean, smooth and hydrated.

Laritzy Cosmetics Lip Pencil in Berry Pretty 1g – RRP £18.00

This brand has featured previously in Pink Parcel, proving to be a popular choice. I very rarely use lip pencils, truth be told I’m a gloss or lip balm kind of girl. This lip pencil is a beautiful shade, a mid deep pinky/red that would complement a similar lipstick shade. A possibility for next month…

Drink Me Chai – Spiced Chai Latte 15g – RRP Approx 33p (pack of 30 RRP £10.00)

This brand featured previously within bettybox, it was so nice in fact that I went on to purchase the very same product. Again, this is a beautifully infused blend of cinnamon and various spices, which adds depth to the beverage when made. This can be made using hot milk or water; I chose to mix to a paste with a little milk, adding hot water to finish. Even better is the fact this product is 99% caffeine free and perfect for those who are gluten intolerant, a fantastic addition!

Conscious Chocolate – The Dark Side 85% 15g – RRP Approx 90p (full sized 50g RRP £3.00)

Who doesn’t love a little bit of chocolate?? I’m a lover of chocolate, more so darker blends, and the stronger the cacao percentage the better in my opinion. It’s been proven when your sweet tooth kicks in that everything in moderation is fine; this is where high cacao percentage chocolate can help. The stronger the chocolate the less of it you are likely to eat, curbing your sweet tooth without eating too many calories. This particular chocolate is 85% cacao solids, making it fairly strong. Sweetened with agave nectar it is beautifully smooth on the palette with a hint of sweetness. This product is also certified organic, vegetarian and vegan; also free free from gluten, dairy and soya.

Is it worth buying?

When totalled up this box value is approximately a staggering £43.95! That figure doesn’t even take into account the value of the sanitary products included, making this box even better value. Even when selecting the monthly subscription of £12.99, this box has paid for itself almost four times over. This in itself is an achievement; I love a box that cannot only deliver in products but also in value. Pink Parcel repeatedly excels at providing a perfect selection of monthly treats, making it a worthy purchase in my opinion.
