The Cruelty Free Beauty Box Review by Katieemma – July 2017

I would like to start by saying a massive thank you to Chloe over at http://www.thecrueltyfreebeautybox.co.uk for sending me this amazing box to review. I am really amazed with 2 of the products featured in the July edition of The cruelty free beauty box and will certainly be purchasing them.
Before I start with the review of the products I would like you all to know a little about the concept behind the company, I feel I cannot explain it as well as the website itself so I have done a cheeky copy and post job from the website…
About Us-Our Story
How it all started
Our Founder has always been on a mission to make a difference. However, signing petitions, speaking out and avoiding Companies just wasn’t good enough-Yes, it kept her awake at night! She wanted something much bigger than that and to help people see what was happening in the world of Animal Testing and to help them make the change to Cruelty Free-Many people say you can’t change the world, if we all thought like that what would get done?
We have all always been aware of animal testing and boycotted the Companies who allow this, but then as time went on we realised we hadn’t been avoiding them at all. We realised just how sneaky Companies could be-Logo’s were fake, Companies sold in China, they didn’t test but 3rd parties did…and so it unravelled! That’s when the light bulb went off-We needed something that made it simple for us to enjoy a Beauty Box but one I could trust & enjoy without any guilt whatsoever! Oh & to show these ‘ugly’ companies that it’s beyond acceptable…and so the journey of The Cruelty Free Beauty Box began!

Our Aim
Some people aren’t even aware of Animal Testing and like we all thought in our younger years ‘As if anyone would actually do this for Cosmetics’, others are like how we were, think they’re doing the right thing but not realising how many key factors actually come under the bracket of ‘Cruelty Free’. Having always had animals and knowing how gentle and trusting they can be-We wanted to speak up for them, we wouldn’t want to be tested on would we? We wouldn’t let our children or animals be sat in a lab and be tested on either? This one small step you make, may encourage others to do the same-Imagine the effect it could have if we all did it and boycotted all ‘ugly’ companies-They allow this to happen, knowing what goes on, all for what profit? You guys are the key to this stopping and for good. This one small step you make will help towards making a difference for animals all over the world-What a feeling hey? It’s not just mice & rats that suffer from this it’s all different types of animals-Dogs, Cats, Horses, Monkeys, Wildlife-The list sadly goes on…
We can’t wait to have you guys on board and together we can help put an end to animal testing.
Lots of Love,
The Cruelty Free Beauty Box Team x

The first product I want to tell you all about is my favourite item from the box and the one I will be definitely buying the full size version of. The “awake organics divine face serum”, rrp is £29.99 for 20ml, I received a generous 5ml sample bottle in my box. This product is a little bottle of magic, during my live unboxing I tried a little of this serum and was instantly amazed at the difference it made to feel of my skin and the appearance of my skin. It instantly made my skin look luminous and vibrant and gave me a really healthy looking all over glow, my skin looked more supple, blurred and a lot more even toned. I used it again that evening and again the following morning after cleansing and my skin felt and looked amazing and I adored the fact that it did not feel greasy like other serums I have tried instead it made it feel super velvety, soft and plumped. The smell of the frankincense essential oil in it was very strong and I did expect it to make my eyes water when I applied it but it did not, I honestly cannot say a single negative thing about this magical serum besides the fact that I don’t yet possess the full size version. Once again though I will 101% be purchasing the full size version of this and making it a part of my daily facial routine permanently. I really want to spend the whole review praising this one item; I genuinely am amazed and awestruck at everything about it and eagerly awaiting payday so I can purchase more.
The next item I really enjoyed was the “fairypants- lip scrub in the flavour lemon drizzle, rrp £3.99. This was a full-sized item that I received, and I do use a similar lip scrub every morning after brushing my teeth. This one was a little more special though, it tasted as expected and did the same as the one I usually use, it exfoliates my lips lovely but the really impressive bit was that after I locked it all off it left a really nice balmy residue behind, the balm made my lips feel fuller, plumper and really hydrated, this was a really welcome surprise. Also at £3.99 it is £2 cheaper than the one I normally use and the balmy residue it leaves behind means no lip balm for a few hours saving you a little more. The packaging was too cute; it featured a fairy pirate, who could resist that? I would buy just for that reason and it’s called “fairypants”, sooooooo cool. Another winning item that I will purchase again once it’s run out.
The next item I enjoyed was the “PHB ethical beauty- skin refresh gel, rrp £13.75 and another full size product. I received this in the fragrance seaweed and mint and it was a really sharp, refreshing smell. I used it in the garden after a really hot day of sunbathing to cool off more than anything, and it really did feel cool and refreshing especially with a little bit of a breeze. It does state on the jar that it can be used also for prickly heat and to refresh tired feet, I can imagine it sound be good for both of these. To be honest it’s not something I would normally buy but this is why I love subscription boxes, I did really enjoy trying it and will use it until it’s gone even if I probably would not purchase it myself. I am really happy I received it in my box and got to experience it.
Another full sized product in the box was the “PHB ethical beauty- concealer brush with a rrp of £8.50. That’s 3 products out of five all full sized and worth nearly double the price of the box alone. The brush was nice, it was soft and good quality, I had no shedding of bristles from it, it was not the best concealer brush I have ever used but it did the job it was designed to do, I think price wise it is a very reasonable product, I have had cheaper brushes a lot worse and more expensive brushes a lot better. It really is a fair quality brush for the rrp.
The last item to mention is the “balm balm- super light coconut cleanser, rrp £14.50 for a full size bottle, I received a generous sized mini. I was very underwhelmed and disappointed with this cleanser, it had no scent whatsoever which was disappointed in itself as I am obsessed with anything coconut scented or flavoured, it was very thin and watery, I used nearly the whole sample bottle trying to sweep off my make-up (Not including my eye make-up) and when I thought if had removed if all I applied my toner and I still had lots of foundation left on my skin, therefore needing to go back and cleanse with my normal cleanser. I felt I would have got the same results using tap water and it is not something I would be interested in trying again and definitely would not buy the full size version. But after all I loved everything else so I am still very impressed with the box.

My Verdict on the box overall is really good, I loved everything besides the cleanser which was only a sample size product. I cannot get over how amazing the serum is, the lip scrub I afore and will be purchasing both these items again.
And again I truly head over heels for the serum.

Price of the box is £15 including p&p, overall rrp of products is approx. £35 so a good value box containing mostly great products.
